My First Blog

Not only is this my first President of Red Sox Nation blog, but my first blog ever…so please be patient as I figure out what I’m doing.

It’s about 4pm on Sunday and we’re getting ready to watch the final game of the Red Sox/Yankees series. After last night’s game, I feel a bit better going into tonight, but I still get those butterflies in my belly every time the Yankees are at bat. I’ll admit it, sometimes I need to change the channel until the end of the inning. It’s a relief to turn back to the game to see no new runs on the Yankee scoreboard. A friend at my gym asked me if I was going to any of the games this weekend and I had to explain that it’s impossible to change the channel when the Yankees are at bat when you’re at the game. There’s only so many times you can leave your seat to get a fresh beer and dog!

That’s it for now – here’s to a big win tonight! Cheers!

Cindy: This is my first comment to a blog, as far as I know, so welcome to the club. As wanfischer commented, and in conjunction with your campaign platform, how do you specifically plan to increase seating at Fenway? One comment I heard at work was to put a section above the bleachers. What a great view that would be of the field!

    Cindy,

Congratulations on making it through to the top 10 — as you likely know, I didn’t.

But — I would like to see you tackle some of the hot issues that came up in MY campaign, because I’d like to know where you stand. As would those on the RSN 2007 board and the Lost Nation.

    1) Do you have any plans or ideas to make more game tickets available to fans, or any suggestions that the Sox ownership could carry out?

    2) Have you looked into the current legislation on Beacon Hill concerning re-selling of tickets? What is your stance? Also, what of the StubHub-MLB alliance? Should the Sox enter into it?

    3) Do you have any ideas as to how Red Sox Nation can be united not just socially, but for philanthropic purposes?

As President, will you have subpoena powers? For instance, if Terry Francona leaves a pitcher in too long, can you call him in to testify under oath as to why?

Will you outlaw the wave (at least when the Red Sox are at bat)? The beachballs need to go too – if people want waves and beachballs they should go to the beach, not the ballpark.

And lastly, you need to get the players to publicly endorse all of the above initiatives plus one more…get them to get fans to stop chanting “Yankees s***,” it’s ignorant – the Yankees clearly don’t s***. They have won a lot. However, if you got the fans to chant “Yankee’s fans s***” well, I think I could live with that.

Cindy, I think you have a great platform and I second the banning of beach balls! What are your feelings on Rem Dawg running? I think he shouldnt be allowed to.

Cindy, I have to agree with the comments made by a couple of the candidates, namely that the Presidency should go to an “regular guy/gal fan”, not a “famous fan”. Even though they may love the Sox as much as you do, I would question the notable’s committment to the job, especially time wise with everything else that they have on their plate. If the Sox Management and fans agree come time to vote, that narrows the field down to 4 plus Pupi (a shoo in for Wally’s four legged companion/mascot!!) You live in Boston, have conversed with Management (can’t hurt the Nation’s cause) and I know that you will draw on your many years of Red Sox fan experience to do an awesome job in the role!! You will have my vote!

Cindy- You have the history of consistent enthusiasm and support for the team- you are our “for real” candidate . Stuart Florida is rooting for you.

Cindy – I would also agree that you (“The Fan”) would be the best choice for Prez…..lots of enthusiasm! It just seems too “old hat” for a former player though it?s still appreciated. Maybe you could appoint an “old hat” as a vice Prez and liaison to the players. It might help when getting them to make player appearances.

Cindy…we all missed you at the NTA meetings in Virginia and Wash. DC this past week, but there were a lot of good thoughts going your way. I wish you the best. By the way, my new next door neighbor just moved here from Boston so they know all about Boston Nation. The wife, Christa, works for Microsoft (surprise) so I’ll see if I can get that crew on board with your blog.
Now that my Mariners have blown their season I’m rooting for you and Boston.

    CHEERS!!!

Keep the ticket prices down by not paying the players for post season play….sort of the same as your duck tour drivers they don’t get paid for driving the champions around the city…they don’t even get coffee in the morning.

You’d make a great minor league scout..just think of all the young ones you could capture.
